During a trip to Costa Rica, the jeweler and director, Akiko Akachi was deeply struck by the sight of massive stone spheres said to be over a thousand years old. That powerful impression became the inspiration for "Gyoku".

Since ancient times, people have been drawn to spheres. The name “Gyoku” comes from the way the skilled artisans in Yamanashi, with whom She has worked for many years, referred to the polished stone spheres they created: “Gyoku.”
