This unique vase is a collaboration between artist Chika Higashi and Nakazen, a century-old porcelain maker based in Hasami, Nagasaki.

"Painting on porcelain meant that I couldn't rely on the bleeding effects or subtle color gradations that define my usual style using paper or fabric. Faced with this limitation, I found myself unsure of what to depend on in my work, which led me back to the starting point of exploring the possibilities of my art. It became a new challenge."
